Miami – Florida

The city of Miami is a great place for a holiday, whether with the family or alone. Miami is the largest city in South Florida, and it’s currently undergoing a phase of explosive growth in population, from people settling in from other parts of the United States, and from other countries as well. And why wouldn’t they, Miami is a great place to work and to party as well. The picture you get in mind when someone mentions Miami is of great beaches, coconut trees and Havana cigars, and why not!

Little Havana

Miami was much influenced by in influx of Cuban refugees in the sixties, and they have become a part of Miami. In the ‘Little Havana’ area, it’s a safe bet to say you can hear Salsa music blaring on any given day.

Coconut Grove

If you are on holiday in Miami, the Coconut Grove areas is where you’d want to be – with the best of restaurants, galleries and clubs, it’s the hot spot for tourists and a place for the citizens to unwind on the weekends. The neighborhood hosts many great events and cultural gatherings all through the year, and whatever the month when you visit Miami, there may be a great event happening just around the corner, so keep an eye out for those. Artists from all over the country (and from all over the world as well), come to the coconut grove arts festival, which is held once a year. You could get to see quite a few celebrities at the Coconut Grove, and you could definitely end up seeing a lot of your money walking out of your pockets as well, because the fashionable ambience of this area kind of makes you overindulge a little bit, unless you are careful.

Downtown Miami

Downtown Miami is filled with shopping stores, jewelry shops and fast food outlets for a quick snack as you do all that tiresome shopping. There are tons of malls you can choose from at Miami, if you want to get an idea of what they are like, visit the website Florida Shopping Links, which has links and phone numbers to many-many malls from Miami.

Gold Coast Railroad Museum

If you are a railways buff, don’t miss out on seeing the Gold Coast Railroad Museum, which houses over thirty restored locomotives from yesteryear; quite a treat for the eyes actually. Miami has a variety of museums you could visit, depending on your individual taste, of course.

Miami restaurants
